Welcome to In Memori- I make jewelry inspired by Mourning Jewelry and Forget-Me-Not reliquaries from the past. Fascinated with Memento Mori jewelry, meaning “Remember you must die” in Latin, emerged in the 17th and 18th centuries as a stark yet poignant reminder of life’s impermanence. Adorned with skulls, hourglasses, and bones, these pieces urged the wearer to live with intention, knowing that time is fleeting. Over time, Memento Mori evolved into mourning jewelry—less a reflection on death itself and more a tribute to love and remembrance. Lockets held strands of hair, rings bore delicate inscriptions, and intricate pieces were crafted to honor those who had passed. As the centuries turned, these somber tokens softened into romantic symbols, with forget-me-nots, hearts, and celestial motifs offering a gentler expression of eternal love. What once whispered of mortality now speaks of devotion, memory, and the unbreakable bonds that transcend time.
